I read Great Expectations

Great expectations is one of the novels written by Charles Dickens. The story takes place in the 1800’s. It is the story of a young boy, who goes by the name of Pip, growing up into a gentleman. At the beginning of the book he is seven years old and it is near christmas. He had always considered himself a normal laboring boy. He was raised by his sister and her husband. His sister was very mean to him until she got hurt to the point that she didn’t know what was going on anymore. In the beginning of the book he aids a criminal by giving him food and a file. The criminal is later captured and pip goes on with his life.Pip finds out that someone wants to pay for him to learn to become a gentlemen. He assumes this person to be Miss Havishim, but later discovers it was the very criminal that he helped earlier in his life. Pip falls in love with his daughter, Estella, whom mistreats pip and makes fun of him because of his status. Pip is trained to become a gentleman and with his new status he aquires a new attitude to match. Joe and pip were very close when pip was young but with his new status he is emberassed of Joe’s unlearned ways. Later when pip becomes ill, Joe comes to take care of him and pip starts to appreciate him. Pip goes on for several years and later, after finding out Miss Havishim is dead, goes to visit her old house. It is there that he finds Estella and she asks him to forgive her and says she has changed. The book ends with Pip and Estella finally being friends with each other.

    I thought this book was so hard to get through, it was a good story though.

    Yeah I didn’t like it. Wasn’t bad though. I just hate reading most books.
