Licensed Driver….FINALLY!!!

I am now officially a licensed driver! I am so excited. It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for this moment since I didn’t take drivers ed until after I had already turned fifteen. I always felt so left out, because as of now pretty much all of my friends have their licenses. I was always embarrassed when my parents would have to drive me somewhere just so I could go hang out with friends. But now its all good! I got my license yesterday afternoon and not too long after that I was already driving myself places. I was afraid I was going to be really nervous driving by myself, but it turns out it’s more fun to drive by yourself.

I was really nervous Tuesday night because that was the night before my trip to the dmv. I was so scared something would go completely wrong while I was driving. Nothing really bad has ever happened to me while I was driving, but for some reason I knew something out of the blue would happen during my driving test. I went to my parents for reassurance and they said i would do fine. I also talked to my best friend morgan who of course already has her license. She said the test was really easy and that thery hardly make you do anything. Having been in the passengers seat while she was driving I finally got some confidence. If she was able to pass the test by the way she drives, I think I’ll be okay.

We got to the dmv early the next morning so that there would not be too long of a wait. We ended up having to come back later because we forgot to do something before I would be able to drive. We came back right after lunch that day. We got there and got settled by one o’clock. Five minutes later they called me back to take the drivers test. The instructor and I left to take a ten minute test driving test. My dad and I left the dmv by 1:25 with a drivers license in my hand. I am finally a licensed driver!!

My trip to west virginia

Last weekend my dad had a football game to go to in west virginia. Usually when he has a game he takes me along to spend the weekend there with my family. When he asked me if I wanted to go I said yes of course because West Virginia is my favorite place to be. My uncle and cousin live about ten minutes away and they come with us sometimes and this was one of those times. We picked them up and got on the road. The trip up always seems to last forever; I guess because I am so impatient to get there. We got there and one of the people I have known for a few years was there and she wanted my cousin and I to go see a movie. We went all the way to beckley and watched the movie.

When we came back we talked to one of my other friends that lives close to my cousins and he came over. We chilled for a while and played video games. Eventually we went to the gas station and wal-mart like we always do. We got some food and came back. After staying up until about six we finally went to bed. The next day we woke up at four! We went and got subway and chilled the rest of the day. At night we played guitar hero world tour for a while. Everyone was asleep except for my cousin and I. We had alot of fun just hanging out together and it was nice to go up to west virginia again.

Charlotte

This weekend I took a train to Charlotte to visit my sister Ashley. I used to go to Charlotte at least once a month but recently I have been too busy to go. I figured the Halloween party at her boyfriend Ryan’s house would be the perfect excuse for a trip down there. Also the fact that her old roommate Gretchen and Gretchen’s fiance Pat were down there both of whom had been living out of state for the past few months. Continue reading ‘Charlotte’

Jesus Loves The Little Children

I know it’s not necessary to know exactly what you want to be when you get older at such a young age, but I have always worried about what I want to do with my life. I’ve gone from wanting to be a teacher to wanting to be the next big star on Broadway. I’ve always been scared that I would never figure out what I wanted to be before I went to college, because I was afraid it would mess up my college career. Well, just last night it occurred to me exactly what I wanted to be and pretty much one-hundred percent sure that I’ll follow through with it. Continue reading ‘Jesus Loves The Little Children’

The Advance

So I just recently started going to a youth group at my parents old church. My parents had been bothering me to go for the two years that they actually attended the church but being the rebel I never went. I ended up deciding to give it a chance after meeting one of the leaders of the youth group. This was after my parents stopped going to the church. Now they want me to go to the youth group at their new church but I am happy where I am now. There is no making my parents happy and I have fun not making them happy. Continue reading ‘The Advance’

Woods of Terror

Last Sunday I was hanging out with friends thinking about how much it sucked that I had to go to school early the next day. Before church that night my friend mentioned something called woods of terror. I had never heard of it so I asked what it was. It’s a trail through the woods with tons of scary decorations and actors that try to scare you. If you have ever heard of Spooky Woods then its something like that. Well I had nothing else to do so I decided to go.

What is normal?

Before we diagnose abnormality, who on earth is diagnosing normality? Is normality things that most people in our current culture do? If other cultures do outrageous things, is it our right to say that isn’t normal? Is there normality in spontaneity? What previous experience do you have with a “different” normal?

I have trouble imagining people that are actually able to shift their focus and change a subject. It seems weird me for people to stop focusing on things they really care about. Maybe the rest of the word thinks differently. Is it weird to expect that other people understand you, if you are a tiny bit eccentric? If fifty percent of the population dyes their hair pink does that split create the new normal?

Faith Force

On Sunday, October 26th, I went to Word of Life church in Burlington where the Faith Force were performing. I had never seen anything like this before! Faith Force is a team of world-class athletes who use feats of strength to get across a world class message. The athletes come from all backgrounds including: martial arts, power-lifter, football players, soldiers, firefighters, and even “American Gladiators”. These men give a spectacular show of Gods powerful strength in them, this show is in the Faith Force crusades to draw massive crowds of un-churched people together.

Advancing Forward

This past weekend I went on a trip with my youth group to a retreat center known as A Place for the Heart wayyy out in Sophia N.C. It was a great weekend, full of great moments.

Most youth groups refer to these weekend trips as retreats because you retreat from all the things of the world and go out somewhere far away from your TV, computer and all that stuff and have a good time with God and friends. My youth group, on the other hand calls these getaways Advances. We do this because though we are retreating from everything bad, we are also advancing in our relationship with God.
